AKIMBO EXOTICA features painted collages by Janet Taylor Pickett, showcasing her iconic cutout-dress forms against illuminated botanical manuscripts on paper or wooden boxes. It conveys solemnity, meditation, and vitality—acting as vessels of meaning and memories—and tells stories with a mystical, abstract, and celebratory Black beauty. MOON BRAILLE, by Jaye Moon, is a series of vivid sculptural paintings using Lego bricks and braille, overcoming challenges related to sexuality and disability. Painter Laura Bell and poet Ian Ganassi collaborate on THE CORPSES, a mail art project inspired by the Surrealist game Exquisite Corpse. The work combines pop culture, politics, religion, and poetry, creating echoes and connections that are playfully Fluxus-like and highly collaborative.
